The Lagos State Authorities has begun clearing unlawful markets and shanties obstructing the System 6c drainage within the Cele-Ilasa space, following the expiration of notices served to the occupants.
The operation, led by the joint operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) and the Lagos State Environmental Taskforce, was introduced by the Lagos State Commissioner for Setting and Water Sources, Tokunbo Wahab, in a tweet on his official X web page on Friday.
This follows an earlier directive from Commissioner Wahab to take away the unlawful shanties and markets beneath the Cele/Itire Bridge.
These makeshift stalls blocked the System 6 and 6c drainage techniques and induced the buildup of rubbish, creating unsanitary situations underneath the bridge.
“Following the expiration of served notices, the joint operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) and the Lagos State Environmental Taskforce commenced the removing of unlawful markets and shanties blocking the drainage on System 6c (Cele -Ilasa),” Wahab’s tweet learn.
The submit was accompanied by 4 video clips. One video captured distributors packing their items as LASEGC operatives stood close by, with safety personnel seen within the background.
