Federal Gov’t Takes Over TASUED In Ogun

The Federal Authorities has adopted the Tai Solarin College of Schooling (TASUED) in Ijagun, Ogun State as a Federal College.

Established by the Ogun State Authorities in 2005, TASUED holds the distinguished place as Nigeria’s first specialised college of schooling.

It was named after Dr Tai Solarin, a revered human proper activist and educationist who based Mayflower School in Ikenne, Ogun State.

As a federal establishment, TASUED would be the first federally owned tertiary faculty in Ogun East senatorial district.

With a well-developed infrastructure and tutorial programme, the transition requires minimal federal funding.

In response to an announcement by presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga on Sunday, Tinubu authorized the adoption on Friday and thanked the Ogun State Authorities for inviting the Federal Authorities to take over the varsity, one of many state’s greatest academic property.

“It is a chance for the Federal Authorities to honour Chief Obafemi Awolowo, who started the revolutionary free schooling programme in Western Nigeria and Dr Tai Solarin, who spent most of his life educating our kids and impacting patriotic and management classes in them at Mayflower School in Ikenne”, Tinubu mentioned.

He added that, “It’s also in honour of the Awujale of Ijebuland, who performed a important function in stopping the college’s closure in 2012, simply seven years after its institution.”

The late sage, Chief Awolowo and Solarin had been celebrated figures from the Jap Senatorial District of Ogun State, encompassing Ijebu and Remo.

The President emphasised that TASUED’s transition right into a Federal College of Schooling is a strategic step within the Federal Authorities’s dedication to bolster trainer schooling and improve the standard of instruction throughout all academic ranges.

With TASUED’s new standing, the Federal Authorities oversees three schooling universities together with Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Schooling in Owerri, Imo State and Adeyemi Federal College of Schooling in Ondo State.
