Deputy Speaker Kalu Appoints Hart as New Chief of Staff

The Deputy Speaker, Honourable Benjamin Kalu, has announced the appointment of Sam Ifeanyi Hart as the new Chief of Staff (CoS). Speaker of the House of RepresentativesHart replaces Honourable Toby Okechukwu who was recently appointed as the Executive Director (Projects) of the newly constituted South East Development Commission (SEDC).

Prior to his appointment, Hart served as the Special Adviser on Public Affairs to the Deputy Speaker and has extensive experience in training and consultancy.

Hart was previously the Director General of the Abia State Marketing and Quality Management Authority from 2019 to 2023 and has been appointed to other positions before that.

He is also a member of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPPS) Kuru where he attended Senior Executives Course 45 and served as the Secretary General of the Course.

The new Deputy Speaker’s Chief of Staff has also served on the Boards of several companies and non-governmental entities.

Hart brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his new role, with a distinguished career in law, leadership and public service.

A lifelong learner, he holds several academic qualifications, including a Masters of Arts (LLM) in Environmental Law and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Abia State University.

The new Chief of Staff is currently pursuing a Doctor of Laws degree.

Hart is a seasoned professional who has studied at prestigious institutions including the GOTNI Leadership Centre, the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPPS) and

the School of Politics, Policy and Governance (SPPG). School He is also a member of several professional associations, including the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Directors (M.IoD), the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators (ACIArb) and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

As Chief of Staff, Hart will provide strategic advice and support to the Deputy Speaker’s legislative activities. He will use his expertise to advance policy initiatives and promote good governance.
