Operatives of the Nationwide Company for Meals and Medicine Administration and Management (NAFDAC) have arrested one Madu Simon for allegedly producing faux in style alcoholic drinks in Lagos State.
NAFDAC disclosed this in a press release posted on its X (previously Twitter) web page on Thursday, saying that it confiscated faux in style alcoholic drinks like Hennessy, William Lawson, Baileys, Martell, St. Remy, and Jameson, price about N114 million from Simon.
The company added that Madu tried to flee however was swiftly apprehended.
“One Mr Madu Abuchi Simon was caught within the act of falsifying in style alcoholic manufacturers together with Hennessy, William Lawson, Baileys, Martell, St. Remy, and Jameson.
“A search of the premises revealed expired Amarula cream liqueur, empty branded bottles and cartons, stickers, stoves, buckets, cotton wool, and a purple-coloured chemical suspected for use for cleansing and reusing bottles.
“The suspect tried to flee however was apprehended.
“Over 100 cartons of various adulterated alcoholic drinks, valued at greater than N114 million, have been confiscated and evacuated. The outlet has been sealed pending additional investigation.
