The Nationwide Drug Regulation Enforcement Company (NDLEA) mentioned it has intercepted a staggering N6.5 billion value of illicit medication at two main seaports, Port Harcourt Ports Complicated, Onne in Rivers State, and the Apapa Port in Lagos.
In response to an announcement launched on Sunday by the Company, the seizures included over six million tablets of opioids (tamol 225mg, tapentadol 225mg, and carisoprodol 225mg) and 332,000 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup, following a coordinated intelligence operation and shut monitoring of suspicious containers.
The NDLEA mentioned the seizures had been made after the containers had been positioned on a 100% bodily examination watchlist.
The Onne Port operation on Could 19 and 20 yielded six million tablets and 162,000 bottles of codeine. On the Apapa Port, an additional 170,000 bottles of codeine had been uncovered on Could 22.
