Farmers Advocate Fast Implementation Of Publish-harvest Coverage

Farmers throughout the nation are advocating fast implementation of the Publish-harvest coverage, following the current Agribusiness Hubs launched by the federal authorities to curb post-harvest losses.

They stated that this coverage will increase the expansion and growth of farm produce. They referred to as on the federal government to actualise the plan by fast-tracking a coverage to mitigate after-harvest losses.

Talking on this growth, a farmer, Alhaji Kaita, stated: “We urgently want the implementation of the post-harvest loss coverage as local weather change is affecting us. The post-harvest coverage, if effectively carried out, will act as insurance coverage for farmers towards eventual climate situations that can have an effect on farm produce.”

One other farmer, Yemisi Ojo, appealed to the federal government to be inclusive and contain all farmers within the coverage implementation.

Recall that the vice chairman, Kashim Shettima, launched a post-harvest loss initiative in Oyo State final week.

Commissioning the Agribusiness Hubs, Shettima stated, the transfer is to deal with post-harvest losses and increase agricultural development.

The newly launched hubs will host over 40 agribusiness ventures, instantly and not directly creating employment for over 100,000 Nigerians and supporting the livelihoods of greater than 500,000 farmers, starting from peasant to medium-scale operators.
