A non-governmental organisation, the Integrated Trustees of Authorized Defence Towards Injustice Initiative, has sued Nigerian Nationwide Petroleum Firm Restricted (NNPCL) government, Adedapo Segun, on the Abuja Excessive Courtroom, in search of the refund of N140 billion ($325.09 million) allegedly tied to the corporate’s acquisition of OVH Vitality.
In response to the Information Company of Nigeria (NAN), the group desires the Courtroom to compel Segun, who’s NNPCL’s Chief {Financial} Officer and former Government Vice President, Downstream, to return the funds to the Federal Authorities’s treasury.
It’s also urging the Courtroom to direct the {Economic} and {Financial} Crimes Fee (EFCC) and the Lawyer-Basic of the Federation (AGF) to prosecute him over his function within the OVH acquisition and in transactions linked to the rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries.
“The Integrated Trustees of Authorized Defence Towards Injustice Initiative has filed a go well with in search of the refund of over N140 billion into the coffers of the Federal Authorities.
“The fund is claimed to be related to the acquisition of OVH Vitality by the Nigerian Nationwide Petroleum Firm Restricted (NNPCL). The originating summons, marked: CV/3104/2025, was filed by the plaintiff’s lawyer, Mr Festus Ugo, on the Abuja Excessive Courtroom.
“The group sued NNPCL’s Chief {Financial} Officer and its former Government Vice President, Downstream, Mr Adedapo Segun; the {Economic} and {Financial} Crimes Fee (EFCC), and the Lawyer-Basic of the Federation (AGF) as 1st, 2nd and third defendants respectively,” the NAN report learn partially.
The plaintiff can be in search of particular reduction from the Courtroom.
NAN quoted the summons as saying: “An order of this Honourable Courtroom directing the first defendant to pay forthwith into the treasury of the Federal Authorities of Nigeria [through the 2nd and 3rd defendants] the full sum of $325.09 million (N140.559 billion).
“An order of this Honourable Courtroom directing the 2nd and third defendants to forthwith prosecute 1st defendant in relation to the roles he performed in reference to the acquisition of OVH Vitality by the Nigerian Nationwide Petroleum Firm Restricted and rehabilitation of the Port-Harcourt and Warri Refineries.”
The originating summons, filed as a public curiosity case, names three defendants: the NNPCL official, the EFCC, and the Lawyer-Basic of the Federation. Along with demanding a refund, the group can be in search of a perpetual injunction to bar the official from holding public workplace.
In a supporting affidavit, a litigation secretary acknowledged that the case was instituted in good religion underneath the Oaths Act, 2004, stressing the urgency of accountability.
In October 2022, NNPCL acquired OVH Vitality Advertising, the operator of Oando-branded retail service stations. OVH was merged with NNPC Retail Restricted in a deal introduced on October 1, 2022.
