ASUU Rejects Inclusion In Employees Assist Mortgage Scheme

The Educational Employees Union of Universities (ASUU) has rejected a plan to compel the union as a ‘guarantor’ of loans, below the Tertiary Institutional Employees Assist Fund scheme, not too long ago launched by the President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The union’s place was contained in its decision, signed by the ASUU President, Christopher Piwuna, following a Nationwide Govt Council (NEC) assembly held on the Usmanu Danfodio College, Sokoto (UDUS), from Saturday, August 16, to Sunday, August 17, 2025.

ASUU famous that its rejection of the mortgage scheme for tertiary establishment workers adopted intensive deliberations by contributors on the NEC assembly.

Piwuna mentioned, “NEC deliberated extensively on the proposed Tertiary Establishments Assist Fund. Consequently, NEC rejected the ploy to conscript ASUU as “Guarantor” of loans the union is aware of nothing about and calls for that ASUU be delisted from the method.”

The union additionally said plans to provoke press conferences and protest actions throughout its branches, on a date to be introduced quickly.
