Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani, has authorised the implementation of 70% of the 2024 CONPCASS/CONTEDISS wage construction for workers of the State-owned tertiary establishments, efficient October 2025.
The federal government stated the approval was a part of Governor Sani’s administration dedication to enhancing staff’ welfare and revitalising the training sector.
The federal government additional stated the approval adopted a high-level assembly between the governor and leaders of the Joint Union of Tertiary Establishments (JUTIKS), which culminated within the suspension of the month-long strike motion embarked upon by the unions.
The dialogue, held on the Authorities Home, Kaduna, was facilitated by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kaduna State Council, led by Comrade Ayuba Suleiman, and attended by representatives of educational and non-academic unions from Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria; Faculty of Training, Gidan Waya; and the Kaduna State Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery with campuses in Kaduna, Kafanchan, and Pambegua.
The unions had declared an industrial motion on September 30, 2025, over points referring to the implementation of the 2009 CONPCASS/CONTEDISS wage construction, retirement advantages, and basic welfare of workers in State-owned tertiary establishments.
Nonetheless, in a joint press convention held after the assembly in Kaduna, the union leaders expressed appreciation to Governor Sani for what they described as his “listening management, transparency, and unwavering dedication to staff’ welfare and academic development in Kaduna State.”
The Union leaders stated the important thing outcomes of the assembly included approval and fast implementation of 70% of the 2024 CONPCASS/CONTEDISS wage construction for each tutorial and non-academic workers of the tertiary establishments.
“Approval of the 65-year retirement age. Approval of 40 years of service coverage for non-teaching workers,” the assertion stated.
