The Nigeria Medical Affiliation (NMA), Anambra department, has known as on Gov. Chukwuma Soludo and safety companies to safe the liberty of their colleague, Dr Tochukwu Mbanugo who was kidnapped on Oct. 30.
The NMA made the decision in a communiqué signed by Dr Princeston Okam and Dr Obiaeli Ifeanyi, Chairman and Secretary respectively, on the finish of an Emergency Basic Assembly (EGM) held on Saturday.
The NMA stated Mbanugo, a Advisor Neurosurgeon with the Nnamdi Azikiwe Instructing Hospital, Nnewi, was kidnapped in entrance of his hospital at Uruagu, Nnewi within the night of Oct. 30.
The NMA stated the abductors had not established communication with Mbanugo’s household, relations, buddies or colleagues as at assembly time urging the federal government and safety companies to rise as much as this problem instantly.
“A 72- hour ultimatum is hereby given to the Anambra authorities to safe the instant launch of our colleague Dr. Tochukwu Mbanugo.
“If on the expiration of the above time line and our member’s launch will not be secured, all of the medical doctors in Anambra State underneath the aegis of NMA, Anambra will down instruments till our member is launched.
“An emergency assembly shall be convened inside the subsequent 72 hours to evaluation the progress made thus far,” it stated.
The NMA stated related authorities companies had been duly knowledgeable and whereas assuring that medical doctors would proceed to ship high quality healthcare companies to Anambra folks despite the prevailing challenges.
Efforts to get response from the Police was unfruitful as SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra Command didn’t reply to calls and messages despatched to him. (NAN)
