President Bola Tinubu has accredited the structure of the Nigerian facet of the US-Nigeria Joint Working Group as a part of steps to deepen collaboration in tackling safety challenges within the nation.
The composition of the Joint Working Group was a part of the settlement reached throughout the current journey to Washington, DC, by a high-level Nigerian delegation led by the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu.
In line with a press release by Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, on Wednesday, Ribadu is to guide the Nigerian facet of the Joint Working Group, supported by a multi-stakeholder workforce comprising senior officers from related authorities institutions.
Members of the Joint Working Group embody the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr Bernard M. Doro, Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, Director-Normal of the Nationwide Intelligence Company, Amb. Mohammed Mohammed, and the Inspector Normal of the Nigeria Police Power, IGP Kayode Egbetokun.
Ms. Idayat Hassan of the Workplace of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and Mr Paul Alabi of the Embassy of Nigeria within the US will function the secretariat.
President Tinubu has urged members of the Joint Working Group to work assiduously with their US counterparts to make sure easy operationalisation of all agreements throughout sectors.
