President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated a former presidential aide, Reno Omokri (Delta), and former Chairman of the Impartial Nationwide Electoral Fee (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, amongst 32 ambassadorial nominees forwarded to the Senate for affirmation, days after he submitted the primary batch of three names.
This was disclosed in a press release on Saturday by Bayo Onanuga, Particular Adviser to the President on Data and Technique.
In line with the press launch, in two separate letters to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, President Tinubu requested the Senate to “think about and make sure expeditiously” 15 nominees as profession ambassadors and 17 as non-career ambassadors.
Onanuga famous that there are 4 ladies on the profession ambassadors listing and 6 ladies on the non-career ambassadors listing.
The non-career ambassador designates embody Barrister Ogbonnaya Kalu (Abia); former presidential aide Reno Omokri (Delta); former INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu; former Ekiti First Girl, Erelu Angela Adebayo; and former Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
“Others are Tasiu Musa Maigari, former Speaker of the Katsina State Home of Meeting; Yakubu N. Gambo, former Commissioner in Plateau State and former Deputy Government Secretary of the Common Primary Training Fee (UBEC);
“Professor Nora Ladi Daduut, former Senator from Plateau; Otunba Femi Pedro, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State; Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, former Minister of Aviation (Osun); and Barrister Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu (Anambra),” the assertion partly reads.
Additionally on the listing are former First Girl of Oyo State, Fatima Florence Ajimobi; former Lagos Commissioner Lola Akande; former Adamawa Senator Grace Bent; former Abia State Governor Victor Okezie Ikpeazu; and Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, a businessman, lawyer, and Senator from Ondo State. Others embody the previous Ambassador of Nigeria to the Holy See, Ambassador Paul Oga Adikwu (Benue).
The assertion added: “Among the many nominees for profession ambassador and excessive commissioner designates are: Enebechi Monica Okwuchukwu (Abia); Yakubu Nyaku Danladi (Taraba); Miamuna Ibrahim Besto (Adamawa); Musa Musa Abubakar (Kebbi); Syndoph Paebi Endoni (Bayelsa); Chima Geoffrey Lioma David (Ebonyi); and Mopelola Adeola-Ibrahim (Ogun).
“The opposite nominees are Abimbola Samuel Reuben (Ondo); Yvonne Ehinosen Odumah (Edo); Hamza Mohammed Salau (Niger); Ambassador Shehu Barde (Katsina); Ambassador Ahmed Mohammed Monguno (Borno); Ambassador Muhammad Saidu Dahiru (Kaduna); Ambassador Olatunji Ahmed Sulu Gambari (Kwara); and Ambassador Wahab Adekola Akande (Osun).”
The Presidency said that the nominees are anticipated to be posted to international locations with which Nigeria maintains sturdy and strategic bilateral relations, together with China, India, South Korea, Canada, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, South Africa, Kenya, and to everlasting missions such because the United Nations, UNESCO, and the African Union.
