The Impartial Nationwide Electoral Fee (INEC) has dismissed
experiences circulating in some quarters claiming that it has launched the Timetable and Schedule of Actions for the 2027 basic election.
Chief press secretary/media adviser to the INEC chairman, Adedayo Oketola, in an announcement launched on Friday evening, stated the knowledge being bandied round was false and deceptive.
The assertion urged the general public and the media to ignore the faux experiences and all the time depend on data from INEC’s official platforms for correct and authoritative updates.
It learn: “the Impartial Nationwide Electoral Fee (INEC) needs to categorically refute experiences circulating in some quarters claiming that the Fee has launched the Timetable and Schedule of Actions for the 2027 Common Election.
“The Fee needs to state clearly that this data is fake and deceptive. INEC has not launched any timetable or schedule of actions for the 2027 Common Election.
“The Fee reiterates that it operates strictly throughout the provisions of the regulation. Specifically, Part 28(1) of the Electoral Act, 2022 gives that the Fee shall publish a Discover of Election not later than 360 days earlier than the date appointed for a basic election. Any timetable or schedule issued outdoors this statutory framework can’t emanate from INEC.
“INEC assures Nigerians that the official Timetable and Schedule of Actions for the 2027 Common Election shall be launched sooner or later, in full compliance with the Structure of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) and the Electoral Act, 2022. When launched, it is going to be communicated via the Fee’s established and verified channels.
