JUST-IN: 25 Passengers Die, 13 Rescued, 14 Lacking As Boat Capsizes In Yobe

A minimum of 25 folks have been confirmed useless, whereas 13 others have been rescued alive, following a tragic canoe accident in Nguru native authorities space of Yobe State.

The incident occurred when a canoe conveying 52 passengers capsized whereas travelling from Adiyani city in Guri native authorities space of Jigawa State to Garbi city in Nguru LGA of Yobe State.

Preliminary report confirmed that 25 passengers died, 13 have been rescued, and 14 have been declared lacking within the accident.

In keeping with the Govt Secretary of Yobe State Emergency Administration Company (SEMA), Dr. Mohammed Goje, search and rescue operations commenced instantly after the incident was reported.

He mentioned SEMA search and rescue groups from Bade and Nguru LGAs have been promptly deployed to the scene to help ongoing efforts by safety businesses, emergency responders, and local people volunteers.

He mentioned that, “Up to now, 13 passengers have been efficiently rescued, whereas 14 others stay lacking. Search and rescue operations are ongoing, with safety businesses, emergency responders, and local people volunteers working tirelessly to find the lacking passengers and recuperate our bodies.”

Dr. Goje defined that the victims have been getting back from Adiyani, the place that they had engaged in fishing farming, and different native enterprise actions, when the canoe capsized mid-way.

He added that the efforts have been being intensified to find the lacking passengers and recuperate their our bodies, assuring that the company remained absolutely dedicated till the operation is concluded.
