World Bank Commends Gombe Over RAAMP Implementation

The World Bank has commended the Gombe State government for its performance in implementing the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).

During the 10th Implementation Support Mission of RAAMP, the World Bank team described the state as one of the best-performing under the programme nationwide.

The World Bank Task Team Leader praised the state for its strict compliance with project implementation guidelines, transparency and accountability in project execution.

According to the World Bank team, Gombe State has made significant progress in constructing rural road infrastructure and implementing agricultural marketing initiatives to improve access to markets and stimulate economic activity in rural communities.

Speaking during the engagement, the Permanent Secretary of the Gombe State Ministry of Works, Housing and Transportation, alongside the State RAAMP Project Coordinator, expressed appreciation to the World Bank for the recognition.

The Gombe State governor’s spokesperson, Ismaila Uba Misilli, in a statement, attributed the achievement to the commitment and support of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya toward the implementation of development projects in line with global best practices.

The officials noted that the administration’s interventions under RAAMP have continued to create opportunities for farmers and rural dwellers by improving access roads and enhancing connectivity across communities in the state.

They described the recognition as a morale booster that would encourage the state government to sustain the momentum and further consolidate Gombe’s reputation as a leading state in the implementation of the RAAMP programme in Nigeria.
