Yobe APC Stakeholders’ Endorsed Aspirant, Wali, Screened For 2027 Governorship Race

The immediate past Secretary to the State Government and stakeholders’ preferred Yobe State governorship aspirant, Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, on Saturday appeared before the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Screening Committee ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial elections.

The screening exercise took place at the Kaduna State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, where aspirants seeking the party’s ticket were assessed by members of the committee chaired by Dr. Benjamin Obi Nwoye.

Wali, widely regarded as the preferred aspirant of major APC stakeholders in Yobe State, arrived at the venue alongside a strong delegation of political leaders, elder statesmen, party stalwarts, youth mobilizers, and supporters drawn from different parts of the state.

A statement from Shu’aibu Abdullahi, his one time Press Secretary when he was the SSG said during the session, Wali articulated his vision for a united, peaceful, and prosperous Yobe State anchored on continuity, inclusive governance, compassion, and sustainable development.

Sources close to the screening process described the interaction as engaging and insightful, noting that Wali demonstrated a firm grasp of the developmental challenges and opportunities facing the state.

Speaking shortly after the exercise, a member of Wali’s entourage said the aspirant presented himself not merely as a politician seeking office, but as a leader committed to responsible governance and people-oriented leadership.

“This is a man who has served Yobe with loyalty, humility, and dedication. What he presented before the committee was not just experience, but a genuine commitment to serve the people with fairness, empathy, and inclusiveness,” the supporter stated.

The large turnout of APC stakeholders and supporters from Yobe State was seen by many political observers as a reflection of the growing support and confidence Wali enjoys across political, social, and generational divides within the state.

Supporters believe his administrative background, calm disposition, and understanding of Yobe’s socio-economic realities place him in a strong position as the party prepares for the next phase of the governorship process.

The APC Governorship Screening Committee is expected to conclude its assignment in the coming days ahead of the party’s governorship primaries.
