An aspirant for the Kaduna Central Senatorial District seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress All Progressives Congress, Yerima Shettima Yerima Shettima, has withdrawn from the race, declaring support for the party’s candidates ahead of 2027.

The development comes as internal consultations continue within the party over senatorial and other elective positions ahead of the general election cycle.

Addressing journalists in Kaduna on Sunday, Shettima called for genuine reconciliation among aggrieved members, saying such steps were necessary to strengthen the party and ensure lasting peace, cohesion, and progress within its ranks.

According to him:
“After wide consultations and deep reflection, I have decided to respect the decision of our great party regarding the senatorial contest”

He added, “As a loyal and committed party man, I remain steadfast in my support for the APC and reaffirm my readiness to continue contributing my quota towards the victory of our great party at all levels in the forthcoming elections.”

He further stated, “I hereby formally announce my withdrawal from the Kaduna Central Senatorial race in good spirit and allign accordingly with party decisions.”

Shettima reaffirmed his alignment with party leadership decisions and maintained that his withdrawal should be seen as part of broader efforts to preserve unity within the APC ahead of the elections.
