Former federal lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for Kaduna Central Senatorial District after defeating two other aspirants by a wide margin.
The returning officer for the exercise, Barr. Samira Ibrahim, announced that Sani secured 9,105 votes to clinch the party’s senatorial ticket in Kaduna State.
According to the results, former Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Yusuf Zailani, polled 1,021 votes, while activist and politician Yerima Shettima scored 1,253 votes.
Barr. Ibrahim said the primary election was conducted peacefully and in line with party guidelines.
“With the total votes collated, Senator Shehu Sani, having scored the highest number of votes cast, is hereby declared winner of the APC Kaduna Central senatorial district primary election,” she said.
