Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway has responded to rumours suggesting she underwent a facelift after fans began questioning her recent appearance online.
The 43-year-old screen star sparked speculation in March after sharing an Instagram video showcasing a beauty technique used by her hairstylist, Orlando Pita. In the footage, Hathaway explained that Pita created two concealed braids close to her temples to subtly lift the eye area whenever he styled her hair for red-carpet appearances.
Despite the explanation, the clip sparked widespread claims on social media that the actress may have undergone cosmetic enhancement procedures.
Speaking in a recent interview with ELLE Magazine, Hathaway admitted that the rumours had grown too intense to overlook. ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ actress stated that she normally chooses not to react to public discussions about her appearance, but felt the ongoing speculation had become impossible to ignore.
According to Hathaway, many people now treat personal opinions as facts, even when there is no proof to support them.
The award-winning actress stressed that she had not undergone any major cosmetic procedure, explaining that the noticeable change in her appearance was simply due to “two braids”. She also described facelift surgery as a significant medical choice, while clarifying that she is not completely opposed to the idea in the future.
Hathaway noted that although she may eventually consider a facelift, her recent appearance was not due to surgery.
