Troops Arrest Alleged Female Boko Haram Collaborator In Borno

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a woman suspected of collaborating with Boko Haram/ISWAP at a security checkpoint in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.

Security sources cited by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama said the suspect, identified as 50-year-old Kellu Abba, was apprehended around 8am on Wednesday while allegedly attempting to move supplies to a known insurgent-linked area.

According to the sources, the woman, described as a Kanuri resident of Lawanti area in Baga town, was intercepted while allegedly conveying items to her son, identified as Modu Mustapha, a suspected terrorist operating within the Dumba general area.

The report stated that security operatives recovered several items from the suspect at the point of arrest, including four ready-to-use supplementary food packs, two hijabs, and one wristwatch.

It added that the suspect is currently being held by the 196 Amphibious Battalion for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Military sources further noted that although the security situation in the theatre of operations remains relatively calm, it is still unpredictable, with troops maintaining what they described as satisfactory morale and operational effectiveness.

Operation Hadin Kai has continued counter-insurgency operations across the North-East in a sustained campaign against Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) elements.
