American television personality Gayle King has finally addressed decades-old rumours claiming she is in a secret romantic relationship with her longtime billionaire friend, Oprah Winfrey.

Speaking during a recent episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, Gayle admitted that the heavy speculation about their friendship used to affect her deeply.

According to her, the rumours began circulating shortly after her divorce. She stated that the gossip became so intense that she begged Oprah to have them come out publicly and deny it, as it was badly affecting her dating life. However, Oprah advised her to ignore the critics.

Setting the record straight during the podcast, Gayle stated clearly that she and Oprah are just best friends and nothing more.

“If we were gay, we would tell you,” Gayle said, adding that while there is absolutely nothing wrong with being gay, she personally prefers men.

The TV star noted that while the online gossip used to get under her skin, she has now reached a point in her life where she no longer lets rumours bother her. She also cautioned that social media can multiply hatred and false assumptions among people.
