30-Year-Old Decorator Hacked To Death In Edo

A 30-year-old decorator, Esohe Aigbe, has been killed in Benin City, Edo State, in a brutal attack by yet-to-be-identified assailants.

It was gathered that the victim had gone to Ojo Street in Ogida Quarters, Benin City, to assist a friend with free decoration work at a funeral venue when she was attacked.

According to sources, Aigbe had just completed her assignment and was still within the venue when she was allegedly attacked with a machete by unidentified persons.

The attackers were said to have carried out the assault swiftly before fleeing the scene, leaving the victim with severe injuries.

Eyewitness accounts indicated that residents and passers-by rushed to her aid and immediately took her to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), but she was confirmed dead due to the severity of the machete cuts.

When contacted, the Edo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Eno Ikoedem, confirmed the incident, saying the command had already commenced investigation into the matter.

“I’m aware of a murder case in the area. We already have one suspect in our custody, and investigation is still ongoing as I speak to you,” she said.

Police authorities said efforts were ongoing to track down other suspects linked to the attack.
