Sharon Parish Shines, Wins $2,500 Prize In Oshoffa Juvenile Music Competition

New champions have emerged in the SBJ Oshoffa Annual Memorial Music Juvenile Competition.

At the grand finale of the second edition of the competition, which was held at the MUSON Centre in Onikan, Lagos, and organised by True Word in Season, nine choirs competed for a cash prize of $2,500, which was eventually won by CCC Sharon Parish.

Also, CCC Ijaye Olifi and CCC Glorious Children emerged second and third positions, respectively.

Speaking with journalists at the event, Brother Demola Bolaji, the convener of True Word in Season, the evangelical arm of Greater Tomorrow Group in the Celestial Church of Christ, said the initiative was aimed at improving the musical standard of participants in line with the legacy of the late Samuel Bilewu Joseph Oshoffa.

According to him, this year’s edition was organised to commemorate the 2026 Children’s Day celebration and honour the legacies of the late founder of the church.

“The vision is to improve the musical standard of participants in line with the legacy of Pa SBJ Oshoffa, who during his lifetime was a trained musicologist. He understood music deeply. If we begin to raise young people in line with the legacy of the founder, we will be rebuilding the foundation of the church according to the original vision,” he said.

Earlier in his opening remarks, Most Superior Evangelist Samson Olatunji Banjo expressed delight at the large turnout of young people at the grand finale.

“I am happy that many of those who were here last year are also here today for this grand finale. Those seated in the front row are the ones to whom we will hand over the mantle in the future,” he said.

Addressing members above the age of 25, Banjo said they were privileged to witness what he described as an impending revival in the church.

“For those above 25 years, I will say you are among the most blessed people in the world because the church is going to experience a turnaround and heaven will bless you,” he stated.

“You are not seeing the true Celestial Church right now; what you are seeing is only a shadow of the church. The covenant of Pa Oshoffa is still with the church.
“Papa promised before he passed on that we have seen nothing yet and that at a particular time, the Almighty would descend His power upon us.

“That promise will surely come to pass and you will witness wonders. It will be so powerful that people will no longer drift away. I want the young people to remain steadfast in the Lord. Be happy and trust in God,” he added.

At the maiden edition of the competition, CCC El Morijah Parish beat other contestants to emerge winner.

Among prominent members of the church at the event were Rev. Adekunle Lawal, Assistant Most Superior Evangelist Ebenezer Oshoffa, Shepherd of the National Headquarters of the Church, Assistant Most Superior Evangelist Afis Kiki, and Mother Celestial Atinuke Abioro.
