Video footage has emerged showing the moments operatives of the Nigeria Police Force breached a kidnappers’ hideout to rescue Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul.
In the video, operatives are seen entering the criminal den during a late-night operation on Saturday.
One of the suspected kidnappers attempted to escape through the ceiling before being shot in the leg by operatives, who ordered him to climb down.
The victims, who include the younger sister of former Minister of Power Chief Adebayo Adelabu, were freed unharmed around 7:30 p.m. during the tactical operation in Oyo State.
Mrs. John-Paul and her twins were abducted around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2026, while traveling to drop the children off at school. Following the abduction, sustained intelligence tracking and operational pressure by security forces forced a direct confrontation with the syndicate.
During the exchange of fire, two suspected kidnappers were neutralized at the scene, and two firearms were recovered from the gang.
“The victims were rescued alive and are currently receiving medical evaluation,” a security officer disclosed. “Our operatives are combing nearby areas for fleeing members of the syndicate, some of whom are believed to have escaped with gunshot wounds.”
On Friday, prior to the rescue, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde paid a visit to Chief Adebayo Adelabu to offer reassurance and pledge the state’s full support in securing the release of his relatives.
The incident occurred a few weeks after a separate mass abduction involving over 40 students and teachers in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
