First Shrek 5 Teaser Trailer Arrives, Revealing New Cast, Plot Details

After 16 years away from the big screen, Shrek and Donkey are back, and the wait is finally over for a first look at their next adventure.

DreamWorks has released a teaser trailer for Shrek 5, offering audiences the first glimpse of what the long-awaited fifth instalment has in store.

Plot details have been closely guarded, but the teaser reveals that the film follows Shrek and his family, including two sons and a daughter, on what Donkey describes as “a whirlwind big-city adventure.”

Predictably, things do not go according to plan, with much of the group ending up behind bars at one point, with Donkey providing his usual vocal accompaniment. The trailer also squeezes in a quick dig at Disney’s Frozen.

Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz return as Shrek and Fiona, while Eddie Murphy reprises his fan-favourite role as Donkey. Zendaya joins the franchise as the couple’s daughter, with Saturday Night Live’s Marcello Hernández and Superman’s Skyler Gisondo voicing their sons, Fergus and Farkle.

Shrek 5 is scheduled for release on June 30, 2027, marking the franchise’s first theatrical outing since Shrek Forever After in 2010. back in 2010.
