NSCDC Arrests 43-Year-Old Kwara School Worker For Allegedly Impregnating 14-Year-Old Pupil

A 43-year-old non-teaching staffer at a public primary school in Ilorin, Amuda Olubukola, has been taken into custody by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, for allegedly defiling and impregnating a 14-year-old pupil.

Reports indicate that Olubukola allegedly used his office on the school premises to repeatedly assaults the Primary 4 pupil, with the pregnancy ultimately revealing the abuse.

Confirming the arrest in a statement issued on Friday, NSCDC spokesperson Ayoola Micheal said the Command’s Gender Unit immediately launched an investigation after receiving a formal complaint.

He said, “The arrest followed a complaint received by the Gender Unit of the Command, which triggered an immediate investigation into the disturbing allegation.”

Providing further details, the Command’s spokesperson said the suspect allegedly manipulated the victim with promises of marriage and used force to prevent her from raising an alarm during the alleged assaults.

“The victim further alleged that the suspect repeatedly promised to marry her before allegedly subjecting her to the abuse. During the incidents, he covered her mouth to prevent her from raising an alarm,” he said.

According to the corps, the alleged abuse came to light after the girl’s mother noticed physical changes in her daughter and reported the matter to law enforcement authorities.

“The case came to light after the victim’s mother reported that her daughter had allegedly become pregnant as a result of the abuse,” Michael maintained.

The spokesperson further disclosed that during interrogation, the suspect admitted to the offence but attempted to attribute his actions to supernatural forces.

“The suspect admitted to the offence during interrogation. He was attempting to attribute his actions to ‘the work of the devil’,” he further revealed.

Reacting to the incident, the Kwara State Commandant of the NSCDC, Abbas Mohammed, condemned the alleged act, describing it as a gross betrayal of trust and a violation of the safety children should expect within the school environment.

“Schools are meant to nurture, protect and inspire children, not expose them to abuse,” he declared.

“Any individual who preys on the innocence of a child, particularly within the school environment, has committed a grave offense against the society and will be made to face the full weight of the law,” the NSCDC boss warned.

He assured members of the public that the Command was committed to ensuring justice and said the suspect would be prosecuted upon the conclusion of investigations.

“Investigation is nearing completion. The suspect will be arraigned in court as soon as the necessary legal processes are concluded,” he stated.
