Christian Leaders Organise Prayers For National Healing, Renewal

Christian leaders, missionaries and worshippers from across Nigeria and several other countries have gathered in Abuja for the 2026 Miracle and Healing Conference organised by Lapis Lazuli Ministries, with prayers for peace, security, healing and national recovery taking centre stage.

The three-day conference which attracted the clergy, Christian campus fellowship members and guests from the United States, Australia and other parts of Europe, opened on Thursday with a renewed call for Christians to play active roles in addressing Nigeria’s social and spiritual challenges through prayers, evangelism and community service.

Addressing journalists, the convener of Lapis Lazuli Ministries, Dr Femi Bajomo, said the annual conference was designed to equip believers with biblical principles on healing ministry, evangelism and practical community impact.

He said participants had witnessed remarkable testimonies of healing, worship and spiritual transformation since activities commenced.

“We have people from different parts of the world ministering at this conference. There has been powerful worship, sound teaching and healing ministrations. Many have testified to receiving blessings and healing, and we believe even greater things will happen during the remaining days of the conference,” he said.

Bajomo explained that one of the major objectives of the conference was to strengthen missionaries and church leaders serving in communities across Nigeria through practical training in prayer, healing ministry and pastoral care.

According to him, participants are expected to return to their various churches and mission fields better prepared to minister to people experiencing physical, emotional and spiritual challenges.

The clergyman noted that the Miracle and Healing Conference had been held annually since 2014, moving across several Nigerian cities, including Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ibadan and Ado-Ekiti.

He added that the ministry’s decision to return to Abuja after several years was inspired by what the organisers believed was a divine mandate to intercede for Nigeria from the nation’s seat of government.

Responding to questions on how the conference could help address insecurity and other national challenges, Bajomo stressed that prayer remained one of the most significant contributions Christians could make.

“Nigeria is passing through many challenges, and prayer remains one of the greatest contributions believers can make. We are praying for victims of insecurity, for healing across the land and for God’s intervention in the affairs of our nation,” he said.

Vice President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), FCT chapter, Pastor Isaac Komolafe, said many ministers participating in the conference serve in communities affected by insecurity, displacement and trauma.

He noted that such church leaders required continuous spiritual and emotional support to enable them effectively minister to people impacted by various crises.

“Some of the pastors here minister in areas experiencing serious security challenges. They are often the first point of contact for people who have suffered loss, trauma and hardship. Conferences like this help to refresh and strengthen them for the work ahead,” he said.

Komolafe described the conference as a platform for holistic ministry that addresses the spiritual, emotional and physical wellbeing of individuals.

“The Gospel is about total transformation. It is about salvation, healing and restoration. We are ministering not only to people seeking physical healing but also to those dealing with emotional wounds, trauma and depression,” he added.

International guest speakers, Brandy and Garth Belue from Houston, Texas, expressed appreciation for the hospitality and deep faith of Nigerians, describing the country as a place that continually inspires them.

“We love Nigeria and the Nigerian people. Every time we come here, we experience tremendous warmth and encouragement. We are honoured to be part of what God is doing through this conference,” Brandy Belue said.

Her husband, Garth Belue, said the conference also provides an opportunity to support initiatives aimed at strengthening families, marriages and communities through faith-based ministry.

The chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Omoniwa Babajie, said the conference places significant emphasis on youth development and leadership training.

According to him, young people were deliberately invited to expose them to values-based leadership and prepare them for future responsibilities in society.

“We want our young people to develop character, integrity and a sense of purpose. They are the leaders of tomorrow, and gatherings like this help shape their worldview and prepare them to make positive contributions to the nation,” he said.

The Miracle and Healing Conference will continue over the next two days with worship services, leadership training, healing sessions and biblical teachings aimed at promoting spiritual growth, community transformation and national renewal.
