Police In at ‘A’ Division in Ughelli, Delta State in collaboration with members of the local vigilante group have arrested two suspected kidnappers after strolling from a forest to purchase food and medicine.
A victim of an earlier kidnap identified the suspects as being among his attackers.
The suspects, Iliyasu Hassan and Idris Abdulkarim (were arrested on June 22, 2026 at about 8:30pm
They were also arrested in connection with a failed kidnap attempt June 19, 2026.
Police spokesman Bright Edafe said following their arrest, they remained in custody for investigations to continue.
He said efforts were ongoing to arrest other members of the criminal gang and recover weapons used in their operations.
The Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the vigilance of members of the public and the collaboration between community stakeholders and security agencies.
He urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to the police, assuring them of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property throughout the state.
