‎Reggae Icon Evi Edna Ogholi Celebrates 60 Years

‎Nigerian female reggae musician Evi Edna Ogholi is 60 today.

‎Popularly known for her song ‘Happy Birthday’. Evi entered the music industry in the 80s, releasing her debut album, My Kind of Music, in 1987.

‎She captivated the hearts of many with her iconic song hits “Happy Birthday”, “Oghene Me” and “Look Before You Cross”, and the young ones as well as adults vibed ri the songs.

‎Then, Nigeria didn’t have many female singers who performed and lit up the stage.

‎Emma Ogosi was her manager and producer, and she married him; they were blessed with two children together.

‎The couple later separated, and Evi Ogholi relocated to Paris, France.

‎ After a long hiatus from the music scene, Ogholi unveiled her plans to resume entertaining her fans during her interview with BBC Pidgin and Splash 105.5 FM in Ibadan.

‎The Isoko-born lady, who has not released songs in decades, contributed to the music when reggae was the genre rocking stages globally.
