The infrastructural transformation of Oron town in Akwa Ibom will come under focus in London next week, following an initiative floated by concerned indigenes in diaspora.
The natives under the aegis of Oron Development Union (ODU), UK and Ireland chapter, will launch an appeal fund in London on July 25 as part of activities lined up for the 2026 Oron Day.
The announcement came in a statement jointly signed by its president and publicity secretary, Lady Atai Tina Umoh Bassey and Mr Victor Mkpofor, respectively.
“Let’s keep the excitement alive, spread the word, invite our family and friends, and make this landmark event a resounding success. Together, let’s celebrate our heritage and build the Oron of our dreams,” they stated.
They enjoined sons and daughters of Oron town in the UK and Ireland to donate generously to the appeal fund, with the proceeds earmarked for infrastructural projects in their community in Akwa Ibom State.
