Bisola Aiyeola Addresses, Friendship And Taking Sides

Nollywood actress and media personality Bisola Aiyeola has shared her thoughts on loyalty in friendships, revealing why she no longer gets involved in conflicts that do not directly concern her.

Speaking on the Dear Ife podcast, the reality TV star admitted that she once made the mistake of taking sides in disagreements involving friends, colleagues and even acquaintances without hearing both sides of the story.

Reflecting on those experiences, Bisola said she eventually realised that getting involved in other people’s disputes could backfire, especially when the parties later reconcile.

“I have been in a situation where I have taken fights that are not mine. I do inherit my friends’ beef to an extent. I have done that before. Not just for people who are my best friends, but also for acquaintances and colleagues. I did it even without hearing from the other person. But I have also been in a situation where I inherited someone’s fight, and then they eventually settled, and I became the outsider. So, I told myself it’s not everybody’s fight and beef that I would inherit.”

She, however, drew the line when it came to close friendships and former partners, saying she would not remain friends with anyone who chooses to build a relationship with her ex-fiancé.

“I don’t expect people to inherit my beef, but if I have an ex-fiancé and my best friend decides to bond with him, we are not friends. I have cut ties with men who were dating and quarrelling with my best friends.”
