Nollywood veteran Bukky Wright has revealed the emotional reason behind her decision to leave Nigeria and step away from the movie industry, saying she has no regrets because the move was for the sake of her children.
The actress made the disclosure during an interview with television host Morayo Afolabi Brown, where she reflected on motherhood, her career, legacy and her highly anticipated return to the screen.
Her heartfelt confession has sparked conversations among fans, many of whom have long wondered why one of Nollywood’s most beloved actresses disappeared from the spotlight.
Bukky Wright says motherhood came first
Speaking during the interview, Bukky Wright said, “I left this country many years ago because of my children, and I will do it over and over again if I had to.”
She also apologised to fans who were saddened by her sudden departure from the entertainment industry.
The actress added, “At this point, I think I have to apologise. I am so sorry I left you guys without letting you know. Mama duty called.”
Bukky also explained why she kept her latest movie project, Omatara Johnson, away from the public until production was complete.
She said, “I didn’t tell people I was coming back. A lot of people didn’t know I was shooting because I have learnt something: what you keep to your heart manifests better.”
Fans welcome actress’s return
The actress credited her son and production team for helping to execute the marketing strategy behind her comeback, noting that fans’ constant requests inspired the new project.
Bukky Wright returned to acting after years away from Nollywood, delighting supporters who had eagerly anticipated her comeback.
