Chidimma Adetshina Confronted Outside Court Amid Ongoing Deportation Battle

Former Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina, was verbally confronted by a group of women outside the Cape Town Regional Court on Monday following her latest appearance regarding her ongoing deportation case.

A video circulating on social media showed the group shouting anti-immigrant remarks at the beauty queen as she exited the building, demanding that she return to Nigeria.

Adetshina appeared in court as part of legal proceedings to challenge attempts by South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs to deport her. She was arrested last month over allegations of residing in the country without valid documentation, a claim her defence team continues to contest.

The court adjourned the case to August 19, 2026, to allow for further legal submissions regarding her status.

In a related development, an older video of Adetshina proudly speaking about her Nigerian heritage has resurfaced online amid the ongoing legal proceedings.

The footage, originally recorded in 2024 after she won the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, shows the former beauty queen explaining that her connection to Nigeria existed long before she entered the national competition.

“I do feel like I was Nigerian, and I’ve always felt Nigerian from the moment I was born,” Adetshina stated in the video clip.

The video has reignited online discussions surrounding her background, coinciding with her legal team’s efforts to challenge the Department of Home Affairs’ decision to invalidate her identity documents.
