Shakira Details 20-Day Wait For Burna Boy Feature On World Cup Song

Colombian pop star Shakira has revealed that she waited nearly three weeks to receive Nigerian singer Burna Boy’s contribution to their joint track, “Dai Dai,” which is featured on the 2026 FIFA World Cup soundtrack.

Speaking in a recent interview, Shakira stated that she was determined to collaborate with the Grammy-winning Afro-fusion artist because the song required a strong vocal presence to complement its Afrobeats, Caribbean, and R&B elements.

The singer explained that after reaching out to Burna Boy and receiving his initial agreement, she waited 20 days for his recording, briefly worrying the collaboration might fall through before he delivered his verse.

Shakira praised the final result, stating that Burna Boy’s contribution elevated the track. Beyond its sports theme, she noted that the song aims to inspire children globally and promote better access to quality education.
