The award was presented in Monrovia, Liberia, during the recent activities marking the country’s 179th Independence Anniversary and the 16th Golden Image Award ceremony.
In a press statement issued to LEADERSHIP by the State Commissioner for Information and Re-Orientation, Barr. Zainab Usman Jalingo, said the award was presented to Governor Kefas by the Vice President of Liberia, Jeremiah Kpan Koung, on behalf of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr.
The ceremony was attended by senior government officials, diplomats, development partners and other dignitaries from across the world.
The statement said, the Golden Image Award, organised by the National Secretariat of the Golden Image Award in collaboration with the Liberia Crusaders for Peace and in association with the Government of Liberia, recognises individuals, organisations and institutions whose contributions have advanced global peace, security, humanitarian service, leadership, investment and sustainable development.
It noted that, Governor Kefas emerged as one of the international award recipients after a rigorous evaluation of his leadership, commitment to humanitarian service and efforts towards improving the lives of vulnerable communities.
The commissioner said, the recognition reflects the governor’s commitment to promoting peace and security, expanding access to quality education, empowering young people, strengthening social inclusion and driving sustainable development in Taraba State.
She quoted the organisers as saying that, the governor’s vision and dedication to public service distinguished him among this year’s recipients.
Barr. Jalingo further stated that, the Taraba State Government dedicated the international recognition to the people of the state, and described the award as a reflection of their support and shared commitment to development.
She added that the honour further underscores Taraba State’s growing reputation for progressive leadership and its commitment to policies that prioritise peace, human capital development and the welfare of its citizens.
