Intelligence Report Warns Of Imminent Boko Haram Attacks In Adamawa, Borno

Security sources have raised fresh concerns over a suspected plot by Boko Haram insurgents to launch coordinated attacks on communities in Adamawa and Borno States following reports of a breakdown in a ceasefire arrangement.

The planned attacks are said to target the Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa State and the Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, according to intelligence available to security agencies.

Highly placed security sources disclosed that the warning was conveyed in an intelligence communication from the Department of State Services (DSS), dated 27 July 2026, and forwarded to the 23 Armoured Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Yola for immediate operational action.

The sources said intelligence indicated that the insurgents were mobilising fighters for coordinated operations to mark the reported collapse of the ceasefire.

According to the security sources, the terrorists are also believed to be planning the abduction of key government officials, councillors, traditional rulers, religious leaders and other residents in the affected communities to create panic and undermine security efforts in the region.

The sources further revealed that security agencies have been advised to strengthen surveillance and intensify intelligence gathering in vulnerable communities to prevent the planned attacks.

As part of the recommended countermeasures, troops have reportedly been urged to collaborate closely with forest guards, local hunters, and other community-based security stakeholders to improve early-warning mechanisms and deny insurgents freedom of movement.

The intelligence has since been shared with relevant military formations and other security agencies for coordinated action as authorities heighten vigilance across parts of the North-East.

Our reporter also learned that efforts are ongoing to forestall any attack. At the same time, residents in vulnerable communities have been advised, through appropriate channels, to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activity to security agencies.
