15-Year-Old Boy Arrested for Self-Abduction In Niger

A 15-year-old Kelvin Faga in Suleja, Suleja local government area of Niger State, has been arrested for staging his own abduction to collect N200,000 from his father.

The police spokesperson, Niger State Command, Wasiu Abiodun (SP), disclosed this yesterday when he gave updates on the fight against crimes in the state.

He said, “A report received at B Police Division, Suleja, indicated that a complaint was made at the Division that one Kelvin Faga, 15 years old of Suleja, went to church on 20th July, 2026, and did not return home, but the following day, a call was received demanding a ransom of N200,000 stating that the boy had been kidnapped.

“On receipt of the information, police operatives of the Division commenced investigation and, acting on credible intelligence, they said Kelvin was found at a hotel in Suleja on 25th July, 2026, with his accomplice, one Mayowa Ojewuyi a.k.a Mayor, 17 years of Suleja”, Abiodun added.

He said during interrogation, the suspects confessed that they planned to extort the sum of N200,000 from Kelvin’s father.

He said the suspects were detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), where they are undergoing further investigation and would be charged in court.

Meanwhile, a suspect arrested for the theft of a motorcycle, Abubakar Danladi, 22 years old, of New-Market, Minna, who was arrested with a black TVS motorcycle stolen at Gidan-Kwano, was charged in court and sentenced to two years’ imprisonment without an option of fine.

It could be recalled that on 26 July 2026, at about 1 pm, a complaint of motorcycle theft was received at Kpakungu Police Division, where a black TVS motorcycle with registration. No. GWN 436 QB, parked outside a lodge in Gidan-Kwano, was stolen. On receipt of the report, Police operatives and vigilante members arrested one Abubakar Danladi with the said motorcycle in the Dama area via Gidan-Kwano.
