Kogi Poly Rector Intensifies Staff Monitoring, Warns Against Lateness

The rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Prof. Salihu Sanusi Avidime, has intensified efforts to enforce discipline among staff, warning that lateness, absenteeism and other acts of misconduct will no longer be tolerated.

Avidime gave the warning after leading principal officers of the institution on an inspection of schools and directorates at the polytechnic’s main campus to monitor staff punctuality, regularity and compliance with official working hours.

The exercise, according to the management, is part of measures to strengthen discipline, accountability and improve service delivery across the institution.

The rector observed varying levels of compliance with the official resumption time, with some offices recording cases of late attendance.

He directed that all reported cases be documented and treated in line with the polytechnic’s conditions of service, stressing that staff must discharge their duties with diligence and professionalism.

Avidime said discipline, commitment and adherence to official responsibilities remain critical to the polytechnic’s drive for academic and administrative excellence, adding that the management would continue to strengthen mechanisms for monitoring staff attendance and performance.

He warned that routine and unscheduled inspections would be sustained across schools, departments and directorates, stressing that any staff found guilty of lateness, absenteeism or dereliction of duty would face disciplinary action in accordance with the institution’s rules and regulations.
