Woman Rescued After Jumping Into Lagos Lagoon From Carter Bridge

A woman was rescued on Tuesday after reportedly jumping into the Lagos Lagoon from the Idumota end of the Carter Bridge in an apparent suicide attempt.

The incident, which occurred on the afternoon of August 4, drew the attention of passersby and local boat operators, who quickly mobilised to save her.

According to eyewitnesses, the woman leapt into the lagoon before nearby boat operators responded swiftly, pulling her out of the water alive.

A video circulating on social media shows the visibly disoriented woman seated inside a rescue boat moments after she was brought out of the lagoon.

As the rescue unfolded, bystanders gathered on the bridge, with several voices heard pleading with the boat operator not to hand the woman over to the police.

Others could be heard expressing concern over her emotional state, questioning what could have driven her to jump into the water.
