Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has called for sustained collaboration between the state government and security agencies to preserve the peace and stability for which the state is known, particularly as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor made the call on Wednesday while receiving the newly appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General WM Dangana, during a courtesy visit to the Government House in Gombe.
Governor Inuwa said peace and security remain the foundation of development, stressing that his administration would continue to strengthen its partnership with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to safeguard lives and property across the state.
“We must continue to work together and deepen our synergy in our collective responsibility of providing robust security for our people. Everything revolves around peace and security. Despite the increasing political activities, Gombe State will remain the peaceful state it has always been,” the governor said.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies with operational logistics to improve their effectiveness and boost personnel morale in carrying out their constitutional duties.
The governor also commended the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their sacrifices and professionalism in combating insurgency, criminality and other emerging security threats, describing their efforts as critical to national unity and stability.
He assured the new GOC of the state’s full cooperation, expressing confidence that the longstanding partnership between the Gombe State Government and the Nigerian Army would be further strengthened under Major General Dangana’s leadership.
Earlier, Major General Dangana said his visit formed part of his familiarisation tour of military formations under the 3 Division following his recent appointment.
He explained that he was in Gombe to formally introduce himself to the governor after taking over command from his predecessor following the recent redeployment of senior military officers.
The GOC noted that the 3 Division oversees military operations across Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa and Taraba states, adding that the tour would enable him to assess operational activities within the division’s area of responsibility.
