Ex-National Assembly DG Adamu Fika Dies At 86

Elder statesman and former Director-General and Clerk Designate to the National Assembly, Dr. Adamu Mohammed Fika, has passed away.

Fika, who held the traditional title of Zarma Kura of Fika, died in a hospital in Abuja, according to a statement released by the Special Adviser on Media to the Emir of Fika, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar (Chokalin Fika).

The late Fika was the inaugural Director-General and Clerk Designate to the National Assembly. He also served as Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC).

At the time of his death, he was the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Council of Retired Clerks and Secretaries of the National Assembly. Additionally, he had a notable tenure at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Plateau State.

According to the statement, funeral prayers for the deceased will take place on Friday, 7 August 2026, at the National Mosque in Abuja.

Family members, associates, and well-wishers continue to mourn the loss of the elder statesman, describing his passing as a significant loss to the Fika Emirate, Yobe State, and the nation.
