928 Earn IT Diplomas As Federal Govt Promises More Support For Jigawa Youth

The Federal Government has pledged to collaborate with the Jigawa State Government to enhance youth education and skills training to alleviate poverty, create jobs, and achieve sustainable growth and development, even as 928 students obtained diploma certificates in Information Technology.

The Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, made the pledge while speaking with journalists during his one-day working visit to Jigawa State.

He stated that President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda places special priority on education and skills training as a means of improving youth productivity, which he described as the key driver of any sustainable development in human society.

The minister noted that what he observed in Jigawa State, particularly the governor’s commitment to youth education, skills training and empowerment, was remarkable and fully aligned with President Tinubu’s agenda.

“I witnessed the presentation of certificates to 928 youths who graduated with diplomas in Information Technology and software development. This is a very commendable effort.

“All of these graduates can now be self-reliant; they are no longer job seekers. Today, the global trend is skills training, and we will never allow our youth to be left behind if our country is to have a brighter future and compete on the global social, political and economic stage.

“I also went around and inspected the Renewed Hope Workshop and President Bola Tinubu’s skills acquisition centres, which were built and equipped by the Jigawa State Government.
The activities taking place at these centres are very inspiring and encouraging,” Alausa stated.

He further stated that President Tinubu is always pleased to see progress in any state of the federation, especially in the areas of education and youth productivity.

The Minister also assured that, at the federal level, everything possible would be done to continue supporting Jigawa State in boosting and sustaining the gains already achieved.

Also speaking, Governor Namadi reiterated the commitment of his administration to enhancing youth education and skills training for sustainable development.

The governor noted that, in pursuing these broader objectives, they would partner with the Federal Government and other public and private institutions, as they had done with Nile University, Abuja, in training the 928 graduates in IT and software development.

In his remarks, the Director-General of the Jigawa State Economic Empowerment and Youth Development Agency, Dr Habibu Muhammad Ubale, said that over the past three years, more than 500,000 youths, women and other business people had received various skills training, empowerment support and loan grants aimed at eradicating poverty, creating jobs and fostering growth in the state.
