Kano Task Force Arrests 28, Dislodges 5 Drug Joints

The Kano State Multi-Joint Task Force on Drug Abuse and Other Related Crimes has arrested 28 suspects and dislodged five drug joints during operations in Rimin Gado and Tofa communities of Kano State.

The operation, led by the Task Force Chairman, Muhuyi Magaji weekend also resulted in the recovery of various illicit substances.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Committee Secretary Dr. Ibrahim Garba Muhammad.

Magaji said the operation was part of efforts to demonstrate impartial enforcement of the law and extend the campaign against drug abuse beyond Kano metropolis to all 44 local government areas.

“We are treating every community equally and enforcing the law without bias. Our guiding principle is ‘Kano First,’ and we are determined to ensure a peaceful, prosperous and drug-free state,” he said.

He described the decision to begin operations in his hometown as deliberate and symbolic, stressing that no community would be exempted from the campaign.

The Task Force said investigations are ongoing and suspects found culpable would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

It added that enforcement activities would be complemented by prevention, public awareness, community engagement and rehabilitation programmes.

The public was urged to report suspicious activities linked to drug trafficking and abuse to support the ongoing campaign.
