Yobe State governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has approved the immediate appointment of Dr Babagana Mohammed Adam, as Special Adviser on Food Security to strengthen the state’s efforts to improve food production, reduce hunger and promote self-reliance.
The appointment was conveyed in a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Mohammed Goje, and made available to journalists in Damaturu.
Adam, until his appointment, served as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Food Corporation, where he was involved in initiatives aimed at improving access to food among vulnerable populations and addressing hunger in communities.
According to the letter, the appointment is part of the state government’s efforts to advance its food security objectives and strengthen measures aimed at ensuring greater self-reliance in food production.
The new Special Adviser holds a PhD in Environmental and Public Health from the University of Salford, Manchester, and is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine by training.
He also has over a decade of experience in the Yobe State Civil Service, where he contributed to livestock disease control and agricultural policy.
In the letter, the Secretary to the State Government charged Adam to discharge the responsibilities of his office with diligence, integrity and dedication, while contributing meaningfully to the administration’s food security agenda.
The appointment takes immediate effect.
