Osun 2026: I Introduced State Police Idea In Senate — Adeleke

The Accord Party governorship candidate in the Osun State governorship election, Ademola Adeleke, has said he was among those who first introduced the idea of state policing in the senate, expressing confidence that state police would improve security if implemented in the state.

Adeleke stated this on Tuesday during the Arise Townhall Meeting, where he also pledged to uphold the rule of law and ensure that security agencies operate within the confines of the law if elected.

The former senator said he believed state policing was workable and would support its implementation in Osun State.

“If you are my son and you break the law, you will go and face the law. I believe in the rule of law. I will make sure state police work in my state. I am not among those that say state police cannot work. It will work,” he said.

On infrastructure, Adeleke defended the performance of his administration, saying several roads that had been abandoned for decades had been reconstructed.

He described the projects as durable and well executed, insisting that his administration had delivered quality infrastructure across the state.

“I have constructed roads abandoned for about 45 years. The roads are superb and clean. They are good roads,” he said.

The Accord Party candidate also dismissed suggestions that he would need to induce voters with money to secure victory in the election.

Adeleke said his administration had provided palliatives to residents since assuming office, arguing that such interventions demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of the people.

“I don’t need to buy votes. I have been giving my people palliatives since I came in. They believe they can give ₦20,000 and money to voters in Osun. My people are smarter,” Adeleke said.

He accused his political opponents of contributing to the economic difficulties facing the state, alleging that they had “crippled Osun State’s economy” and were now attempting to use money to influence voters.

“My people are smarter,” he added.

Adeleke expressed confidence in his chances of winning the Osun State governorship election, saying he was certain that he would emerge victorious.

“I will not lose this election. I am confident,” he said.
