6 Suspected Kidnappers Arrested As Police Uncover Hideout In Kaduna

The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested six suspected kidnappers after raiding a house allegedly used as a holding facility for a kidnapped victim in Dogon Pako Village, Ikara Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects were arrested following information provided by a victim who escaped from captivity, as well as intelligence supplied by members of the public.

In a statement issued by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Mansir Hassan, the escaped victim reported to the police and provided a detailed description of the house belonging to one Ja’e Samalu, 65, where he was allegedly held captive.

Hassan said upon receipt of the information, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ikara Division, mobilised police operatives alongside members of the Vigilante Service to the location.

He said the team raided the house and arrested six suspects allegedly linked to the kidnapping operation.

Hassan identified those arrested as Ja’e Samalu, 65; Abdul-Aziz Musa, also known as “Kire,” 35; Jafar Isah, 25; Yunusa Musa, 22; Shu’aibu Musa, 20; and Rakiya Samalu, 50.

According to the police spokesperson, Rakiya Samalu is alleged to be the mother of some of the suspects and the caretaker of the captive.

Hassan said the suspects were in police custody, while investigation was ongoing to establish their individual roles and apprehend other members of the alleged criminal network.

The Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, CP Muhammad Rabiu, commended the operatives and members of the public whose prompt information contributed to the success of the operation.

The CP urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons, movements and activities in their communities to the nearest police formation.

He also warned residents to be wary of criminal elements who may use residential buildings as hideouts or holding facilities for kidnapped victims.

The commissioner stressed that community vigilance and timely sharing of information remained critical to preventing kidnapping and dismantling criminal networks in the state.
