Julius Berger, Lagos Water Agency Meet On Infrastructure Safety, Others

Julius Berger Nigeria Plc and the Lagos State Water Corporation (LSWC) have begun discussions to strengthen their collaboration on developing integrated water and road infrastructure across Lagos State.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued by Julius Berger following a courtesy visit by the LSWC management to the construction company’s Regional Office in Ijora, Lagos.

According to the statement, the meeting focused on improving coordination between water and road infrastructure planning to promote a more resilient, sustainable, and efficient infrastructure network across the State.

Julius Berger’s regional commercial manager, Alexander Bauer, stressed the importance of closer cooperation between neighbouring institutions, noting that such collaboration could create opportunities for technical support and joint infrastructure initiatives.

He said Julius Berger was committed to sustainable infrastructure development and remained open to engaging stakeholders, including the LSWC, whenever technical support or collaboration was required.
Bauer also emphasised the importance of early engagement and proper coordination before construction projects commence, saying this would help prevent disruptions and ensure long-term value for communities.

The managing director of LSWC, Engr. Mukhtaar Temitope Tijani, who led the delegation, described the visit as a relationship-building initiative to establish stronger ties between the two organisations.

Tijani said closer cooperation would improve coordination, particularly where road construction activities intersect with water distribution infrastructure.

He noted that better communication about ongoing and future construction projects would help identify and protect critical water pipelines during road and other infrastructure works, especially on Lagos Island and in surrounding areas.

The LSWC chief said the engagement was also intended to deepen institutional understanding, strengthen professional relationships, and provide a platform for future collaboration between the two organisations.

The meeting, the statement said, underscored the importance of inter-agency coordination in delivering sustainable infrastructure and minimising disruptions to essential public utilities.
