Kwankwaso Congratulates Adeleke On Osun Governorship Victory

Former Kano State governor and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 election, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his victory in the state’s governorship election.

Kwankwaso described Adeleke as his friend and commended the people of Osun State for exercising their democratic rights during the August 15, 2026, election.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page, the former governor said the outcome of the election reaffirmed the power of the people’s mandate.

“As a leader of the opposition and a committed democrat, I commend the people of Osun State for exercising their democratic rights and reaffirming the power of the people’s mandate,” Kwankwaso said.

He added that the victory demonstrated that citizens’ commitment to their civic responsibilities could ensure that their wishes prevail.

Kwankwaso also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its conduct of the election.

“I also commend the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the conduct of the election and encourage all stakeholders to continue to uphold the principles of credible, peaceful and transparent elections,” he said.

LEADERSHIP reports that INEC declared Adeleke, the candidate of the Accord Party, winner of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.

The Returning Officer, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, announced that Adeleke secured 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 444,815 votes.
