Osun Election 2026 : INEC Declares Adeleke Winner Of Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has declared the candidate of Accord Party (A), Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, as the winner of the Osun governorship election conducted on August 15, 2026.

Announcing the result at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Osogbo on Sunday, the governorship election Returning Officer, Prof. Joshua Olalekan Ogunwale said, Adeleke scored 511,067 to defeat the candidate of All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji who polled 444,815

According to him, the third runner up, Dr Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Party scored 17,180

Giving the breakdown of the election, Prof. Ogunwale stated that the total numbers of registered voters are, -2,339,544, numbers of accredited voters, 1,010,684, total numbers of valid votes, 985,097, numbers of rejected votes, 20721, while the total numbers of ballot is 1,005,800.

The Returning Officer said by the power vested in him, he declared Adeleke the winner of the election having scored the highest numbers of votes in the election and obtained two third majority in two third of 30 local government of the state.

His words: “I, Prof. Joshua Olalekan Ogunwale hereby declare the candidate of Accord Ademola Jackson Adeleke the winner of the election having satisfied the requirements”

Jubilation erupted in Osogbo following the announcement of Governor Ademola Adeleke for another tenure in the saddle of governance in Osun State.

His supporters trooped to the street with victory songs

Speaking, a resident, Taiwo Oloyede who expressed happiness at the outcome of the election commended the Independent National Electoral Commission for a work well done.

He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for giving free hands to the electoral umpire and particularly his intervention when the State government account was frozen.

Also speaking, Odunola Omojola, a Civil Servant said Adeleke deserved second term because the welfare of workers was of paramount importance to him.

According to him, the backing of Adeleke by Osun workforce contributed to the victory of the governor.
