NDLEA Arrests Celebrity Drug Kingpin, Smashes International Cocaine Cartel

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has dismantled an international cocaine trafficking cartel operating through Nigeria, arresting its alleged Nigerian kingpin, a self-styled luxury goods dealer and social media influencer, Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popularly known online as “KC Luxury,” as he attempted to flee the country.

The NDLEA chairman/chief executive officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Marwa (rtd), disclosed this on Tuesday, saying the operation led to the recovery of 184.50 kilogrammes of cocaine, with an estimated street value of N39 billion, alongside foreign currencies, luxury jewellery and exotic vehicles.

Marwa said the investigation began after NDLEA operatives intercepted the cocaine shipment concealed for export through a courier logistics company in Lagos.

Following the seizure, he ordered the constitution of a special investigation team to unravel the network behind the consignment, leading to the arrest of two key suspects.

One of the suspects, Lawal Mujab Kehinde, a staff member of the logistics company, was allegedly found to have maintained a sustained relationship with the cartel’s Nigerian coordinator.

According to Marwa, investigation showed that Kehinde packaged and processed drug consignments for the syndicate and routed them to the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia in return for cash payments.

The agency subsequently identified Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popularly known online as “KC Luxury,” as the alleged Nigerian arrowhead of the cartel.

Marwa said Afolabi used his public image as a social media influencer and businessman dealing in gold, jewellery and luxury goods to conceal an international cocaine trafficking operation.

The NDLEA boss disclosed that the suspect was arrested on the night of August 13, 2026, at the boarding gate of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, while allegedly attempting to board a business-class flight to Paris.

He was reportedly found with €7,750, £2,800 and N100,000 in cash, as well as expensive jewellery.

A subsequent search of his luxury apartment on Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos, also led to the recovery of exotic vehicles.

Marwa said investigations further established that the cartel operated through false identities, financial facilitators and intermediary companies to conceal the true consignors of its shipments.

He added that the syndicate maintained criminal contacts in the United Kingdom, with some members already arrested by British authorities in connection with the same network.

The NDLEA chairman described the operation as one of the agency’s most significant recent narcotics investigations and said it demonstrated the growing importance of international cooperation in tackling transnational drug trafficking.
